Thinking of getting my 63 conv judged. It has a very original appearing lacquer paint but it is the wrong color. Would I lose all points, originality and condition or would I only lose originality points? Thanks Tom

Re: C2 judging ?
The new paint judging rule states that if you get full deduction for originality, you have to take a full deduction for condition. It is an 85 point total hit. Trust me... it's a big hit. It cost me a top flight because I didn't have my door frames dulled.
If ou do the correct base coat/clear coat, and dull the jambs and hood ledge, you will still get one half of the paint points.
With a Marina Blue 67 BB, I will keep my awesome looking clear coat paint job and take the hit.- Top

Re: C2 judging ?
Thanks for your help, I do have the manual but the old one will order the new one. Don't worry I won't put a "new" trim tag on it, Just a fun driving car I thought I might get judged as other than color its very original. Thanks- Top

Might be a double hit
Tom
Body Color would be a full 85 hit for the wrong color. Then on Body Paint it would be a possible 45 on originality and 40 on condition. I recently went for flight judgeing with an original 67 paint job with a few touchups in the early 70's. Although the paint job looked like a piece of junk up close, I got passed on color and originality, and only 20 points off on condition (out of a total of 190). Doesn't pay me to have it repainted, I got more points off on the alternator, battery and the distributor, individually.
But in your case I think it would be a major hit in judging. Not sure about the new rules but this is less then a month ago.
