Re: spare tire C-2 tub what size tire
Wally,
Thank you for the information about the BFG tires.
Regarding the reproduction tire tub; I do not know for a fact that it is slightly larger. I obtained that information from this discussion group. Perhaps if you search the archives for "tire tub" you'll find the posts that I am remembering.
Given the fact that everyone has had to purchase tires, I expected that more folks would have chimed in on your post and told us how they solved this problem.
Best regards,

Re: spare tire C-2 tub what size tire
I went through the same thing a couple of months ago and actually posted the same question (search Spare Tire).
Anyway, my 6.70x15's would in no way fit in the carrier. I purchased an original non-dot tire from a fellow NCRS member and Vendor. Slid in like butter.
I watched someone else recently try to jam a repro in his 66BB Coupe and tried to warn him. Wouldn't listen and even used the jack to try and force it in there. Cracked his tub!- Top

Re: spare tire C-2 tub what size tire
I have a reproduction upper tub on my '67, and it has accommodated both Coker and Diamondback Firestone "Supreme Si" 205/75-15 radials on 15x6 bolt-ons with no problem; just have to use the 10-1/4" front hanger bolts. Others with original upper tubs have told me that those same tires on 6" rims will NOT fit in theirs.- Top
