Going threw Bowling Green yesterday and it's 12:15 I thought I would take the plant tour again. Well as of Feb 1 they are now charging $5.00 per person. The 2006 has been running for about 8 weeks now. They are working 8 and 10 hour days. 140-to 160 cars every day. All cars are sold that are being built and there is a 2 to 3 month waiting peroid. There looking at 35000 cars to be made this year. There were alot of export cars being made that day. 60% of the cars are still automatic. 15% of the cars do not pass the final test at the end of the assembly line. What a great tour they have for the public. It's my third time threw and I went threw the plant in St. Louis in 1969.

Yes, they are now charging $5.00 for the tour. I think that's a good thing and I don't think that GM is doing it to make money. I believe that the basic reason for the charge is to "seperate the men from the boys", so-to-speak. In other words, when something is completely free, you have all sorts of folks doing it just because it's something to do and it's FREE. So, it's "someplace to take the family", even though the family might have very little real interest in the whole thing.
In general, I don't like FREE events. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
