Mike, the reason I asked is, I was judging a 63 and he had one and I deducted the appropriate points. I saw one on eBay a few months back with the same handle and the seller indicated that it was bone stock, even showed the OEM GM box. Now this one?

      Just curious!

From what I can see of it, I don't think that it's a hood release assembly for any 53-82 Corvette. That goes for both the bracket and the handle/cable.

Yes, you're correct; the bracket does look like the 63-67 bracket. The way it first appeared to me (in the crummy photo) was that the bracket was too narrow at the top to be the Corvette bracket. However, as I looked at it again, I can see where it's wider than it first appeared.

The handle is definitely not an original Corvette piece. However, it is possible that GM supplied this part as-is in SERVICE for some period of time. Such "atrocities" do occur. Not to my knowledge, in this case, but it is possible.

Joe Lucia has it correct. This is the exact configuration that all replacement release assy's had, including the non correct chrome handle. That's the was GM sold these starting some time in the early or mid 70's. I have one exactly like it in the garage.
