Problem - failed water pump
Have new correct pump from Bill Mock and also have another replacement pump (Napa special). Neither are painted and the cross member over pump is showing ...well, not so hot, with a few flakes missing. There is no rust. I have tested three different brands of local supplier purchased "matching" colour engine paint in spray bomb cans and find them either too red or too orange compared to the original. Close but no cigar.
Any suggestions where I might procure the right one?

This can be a problem. Even GM's own paint wasn't uniform from batch to batch. I have a partial qt. can of Chev engine orange from the Chevy parts dept. (I bought it in 1971) with the GM parts number right on it and it's a lot more red that any original engine I ever owned. You may have to try several more brands before you find a good match.

I think many members on this board would agree that Quanta puts out a correct Chevy Orange engine paint.

Thanks Tom and Art,
Found a Plasticote that matches perfectly. After trying 6 other products I believe I simply got lucky and this Plasticote batch "just happened" to be the right one. Have purchased a few spares cans from the same case, same batch I hope, for winter's play.
