How do I get at the Antenna on my 1966

I want to change out my antenna on my 1966 roadsterand can't find how to get at it to remove it. I know that it is removed from underneathe the car but can't find the access point.

I look up in the wheel well and see no access point
I look in the cargo area, doesn't seem to be access.
I look up by the Left muffler and all looks blocked off.

    What am I missing.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I looked in the archives with no luck.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

I take a flashlight and look up, but all I see is the Gas tank and Wheel well.

No clear view of the Antenna.

Is it really that easy to see clearly form underneath or is there an access panel which has to be removed.

        Gary I feel your pain.

        Thanks Dan for responding

The antenna is behind the wheelwell. Remove the rear valance panel for a good look, left side muffler needs to be lowered but I think you can get the antenna out without removing it, easier on a side pipe car. Be careful with the wires.

Gary: the antenna motor is bolted to a metal bracket located on the rear side of vertical panel just aft of the LR tire. If you look in the wheelwell at about the 2:00 position, you should see the ends of the two bolts that hold this bracket on. You get at the antenna motor just like you would approach removing the side bumper bolt. After you remove the outside chrome bezel nut, the whole thing drops down from below. With side exhausts, you will have no trouble unless somebody has "bubba'd" it up for you.

I changed the antenna on my '63 about two months ago. I removed the tailpipe extensions, then the rear valence panel, then I tried to remove the left muffler. HAHAHAHAHA! Then I lowered the left muffler as best I could and found I had limited but acceptable access to the base of the antenna (long arms). No problems from there on. I figure your '66 is a fairly similar situation.
