Can someone tell me what type of marking is on the headbolt for a 71 BB 454. I have looked in the JG and can't find it anywhere and none of my other books tell me neither.
Thanks in advance
Sheldon
All big blocks originally used indented hex head bolts with a "cross" (+) headmarking. On original bolts, the "cross" extends all the way to the perimeter; later SERVICE bolts have a smaller "cross" with a significant "gap" between the ends of the "cross" and the perimeter of the bolt.
There is usually a very small manufacturer's ID mark in one corner of the cross. Several different manufacturers were used.
