    C3 Courtesy Light Mounting

    Hi,

I have a '69. Can someone tell me how the bracket attaches that holds the passenger side courtesy lamp. It mounts somewhere down by or on the kick panel but I can't find it in the assembly manual or any other reference.
    Thanks.

My Nov '68 build with A/C has the passenger side light mounted on the plastic heat/air ducting located approximately knee high behind the dash panel/map pocket. See UPC12-B7

The bracket for the light is mounted to the TOP INNER corner of the kick panel on the pass side. It uses a phillips screw with a Tinnerman clip to attach.

Thanks George for the input. I notice my kick panel has a hole in the very top corner closest to the front of the car. Is that the area you're referring to? I wasn't sure what you meant by INNER. Also, is a Tinnerman clip the typical metal clip commonly used that accepts a sheetmetal screw?

          You're welcome Jack.
Yep, thats the hole for the screw.
Tinnerman clips are used throughout the car. One example off the top of my head are the 4 clips used for each of the rear deck vents behind the rear window. Remove one of those vent grills and you'll see 4 Tinnerman clips that the screws thread into. The one you'll need for the kick panel is thinner than those 4, but you'll get the idea.

            Jack.
I'm trying to remember something now; I think the light bracket may accept the sheet metal screw without the use of a Tinnerman clip. Mine has a clip, but it could have been placed there because the thread on my bracket was stripped. I'm sure you'll be able to tell if you need a clip or not when you look at it. Its not visible once its installed anyway.

I am not sure about '68s but in later years the light bracket for non-AC cars mounts with a hex-head bolt not a screw. I just finished judging a bunch of them in Waco. Some really nice cars here.
