    Exhaust spacers

I am installing side exhausts on my '65. It calls for installing the exhaust spacers by spot-welding at three equidistant or "emboss" at two equidistant loacations. I assume the spot-welding is betweent the inside of the exhaust pipe and outside of the spacer, but what exactly does it mean to "emboss"? And, I also assume the reason for welding the spacers is to keep them in place so they don't move up and cause premature failure of the gasket. Is this correct? Thanks.

    Dave:

You don't need to spot weld them. Just insert them into the inlet ends of the pipes. The sintered metal "donuts" will hpld them in place.

      Thanks Joe,

I wondered about that, but wasn't totally sure. Thanks again.
