C1 Shoreline Beige

Need some help guys. I gave my painter the PPG codes for laquer Shoreline Beige to shoot my interior and trunk and honestly it looks too gray and or dark. Most of this color that you see seems lighter and creamier than what I am looking at. There seems to be some of the original SB on the undreneath side of the spare tire tub on the rear section that you can remove. Anyone know where I can get a correct match? The paint distributor has already said that he used the correct formula. I would guess that there are a lot of shades of this color out there, so do I go with my gut? Thoughts? Thanks.

Garry,

Classic Chevy International carries shaker cans of '56 Shoreline Beige. Same color for '56 sedans and Corvettes. Can't vouch as to how close to originality it is but this is a starting point yp ,syvj yp. I used their color match. it all worked out for me. Hope this helps.Regrds,

Hi Jim, good to hear from you. Do you know if the same color for the passenger cars was named shoreline beige also? The reason why I ask, I have an orginal dealer to consumer brochure from 1957 that has all of the color selections in it for corvettes and passenger cars. Granted, it is a color print, but it is an original and it is the closest thing that I have found to a real color chip for this year. The Arctic Blue is very close to the original paint that I found in the glove box of my car, but the "BEIGE" is much darker than anything that I have seen. It is not listed as Shoreline, just beige. There is another color for passenger cars Adobe Beige that more closely resembles what I had and have seen for Shoreline beige. Shoreline is not listed on either the corvette colors or passenger cars in this brochure. Do you have a number for Classic Chevy International or do they have a web site? I can google if you don't have it available. Thanks.

crossreference to the DuPont # of the time, 1726. If it doesn't, you have a problem. Also you might ask him to mix up another pint while you are there, making sure that he includes ALL of the ingredients.

Loren, the numbers that I have for Shoreline beige are: Dupont 57602 and for PPG 21054. I have never seen 1726 Dupont #. I will look into it. Thanks.

I have an original ppg color chart for 1956-7 chevrolet index no. 5, and there is no chip or code for shoreline beige listed this is an original page taken from the paint suppliers old paint chip book given to me 15 years ago when I painted my 56 Bel-aire. There is however an adobe beige.Nope jsut double checked no shoreline beige for 56-57. Sorry

Don, I have seen that chart and I believe that it is for passenger cars only right? If it has corvette colors chips on there it would be the only that I know of in existence. Better yet, if it does have corvette colors on there does it have Arctic Blue? Thanks.

Nope, I only have the Shoreline Beige mix formula because I needed it for my '57 nine years ago.

Shoreline Beige was on the roof of my 55 Chevy Nomad. Somewhere I have the formula for Arctic Blue in BC/CC form BASF Paints.

Thanks for the kind words. I believe Shoreline Beige was offered as a '55-'67 Chevrolet color. Four or five years ago when I repainted my '56 Corvette I remember having trouble locating the beige color. Chevy International llisted a '55 Shorline Beige in laquer # 30-40 ( I think). They can be reached by(800)456-1957.
If your Corvette came with a beige soft top,under each end of the front header will be a triangular piece of sheet metal which acts as a corner build up of the header.The steel pieces were originally painted Shoreline Bige and do to their location this color has been pretty well protected over the last 50 years or so. You miht find a true color representation there. Also, John St. Peter published on the NDB a mixing code he obtained from Mike Hunt. This may be of help. PPG Shorline Beige: DMA383-Red- 40.0, DMA384-Yellow- 440.0,DMA346- Black- 680.0, DMA311-White- 4280.0
I THINK THIS IS CODE FOR PPG LACQUER. MAYBE YOUR PPG SOURCE CAN SUPPORT YOU FROM THE ABOVE. Had I had John's paint codes at the time I painted I probably would have more faith in those numbers than in Chevy International. REGARDS

Gary the chart I have says 1956-57 chevrolet. It doesn't say Corvette anywhere on it. The blue you are looking for is not listed. Sorry. The fellow with the shoreline beige on his 55 Nomad may be correct for 1955 but is not listed for model years 56 or 57.
