C1 1959 Muffler and Exhaust Pipe Blackout

    1. Where does the muffler and exhaust pipe blackout start and stop?
    2. How is it applied?
    3. Where can I buy it? Thanks in advance, Jimmy

    Jimmy...

The archives have a lot on this subject. The exhaust system was painted a dark preservative ( GM # 368663 paint). Paint "runs" observed on the orginal system resulted from a heavy application mixing with the oils on the pipes from the bending operation. Semi-flat black can be used, including for the engine compartment / under body black out process. Noland's book has some pictures of what this looked like under the car.

BBQ Grill paint works great for the exhaust. Clean pipes good before spraying on from a rattle can.
