The scam depends on two things: 1. stupidity and 2. greed! If the "buy it now" price is $5k and you send in the $, the seller, who probably never owned the car anyway, disappears with your dough. Same goes for wire deposits of "down payments" after you've "won" the auction. I can't say that I would ever buy a car over Ebay these days.
Don
I e-mailed the seller and asked him why the car was only $5,000.00
( I too had seen it on ebay a while back for lots more) The reply was that the car is in England and he needs the money to fix his house becasue they are having a baby. I sent it on to e-bay spoof division and found out that a guy and his wife down south had their e=bay account compromiosed and their e-mails and didn't know of this scam using their name until e-bay contacted them. Notice the 100% feedback rating, the guy in England pirated it. He wants to ship it to me via Lufthansa Air Freight. What a great deal, a car worth over 1/2 million fo ronly $5,000.00. I want two of them . You guys are so suspicious. Shame on you looking a gift horse in the mouth.
Seriously, do people really fall for this stuff?
