    C2 Brake Caliper Question

I need to replace my front right side brake caliper and called Vette Brakes in Tampa about buying a new unit. Before I do this I was told I need to know if my existing caliper has lip seals or O rings. How do I determine this? Thanks

    John,

They are referring to the style of piston seals. You need to remove one of the dust boots and then get the piston out and you will see the seal they are talking about.

      John-----

If the caliper has been on the car for more than 5 or 6 years, the chances are VERY great that it will have the traditional lip seals. Although the 0-ring style calipers have been around longer than that, they were not in widespread use prior to that time.

Plus, another clue: usually, if the calipers are leaking, it's a sign that the lip seals have worn out. The o-ring type calipers usually do not leak.
