Where Are My Wiper Door Bumper Brackets?

I am putting my 68 back together and, even though I don't remember things as well as I used to, I distinctly remember that the two rubber bumpers on the underside of the wiper door did not rest on a bracket or support of any kind. The only thing holding the door up were the adjustable stops on either end of the linkage. I have gone through my AIM page by page and see no mention of a bracket. So now I have done my Ebay research and have found two brackets that are not on my car (one advertised as a "bumper bracket").

So my question is: Are these the brackets that I need? Thanks, Larry

The rubber bumpers about 3/4" dia?

They just use a machine screw to mount into a threaded holes in the underside of the cast metal wiper door. These bumpers have a hole right throught the center. However, the hood rubber bumpers, slip over a special 1/4-20 adjustable bolt with a big flat head and they mount on the male hood latch assembly.

However, I have be know to be befuddled by simple questions.

      Larry,
Geoffrey is correct as usual. Listen to the Doctor.
The wiper door has two rubber bumpers on the bottom that rest on the grille that sits between the vacuum operated wiper door and the hood when the vacuum door is open. There are no brackets, just these round rubber bumpers. I have a 68 coupe and I just installed this door a few weeks ago as part of my restoration project.

I have my wiper door and grille off of my 70 to be put on when I find the time. Do not have the brackets mentioned. I will have to look at my 68 for verification, I am the only person that has removed the 68's wiper door and grille and put it all back years ago and do not remember the mentioned brackets. Do have the rubber bumpers.

Duh! Now I think I understand. I have the rubber bumpers mounted on the door with the correct hardware but I assumed that the bumpers rested on a bracket when the door was down. NOW I think I understand. The rubber bumpers support the door when it is UP. Makes perfect sense. Thanks

I have seen these in catalogs but not in the JG for a 71. I have never lost points for not having them. So, are they not used on a 71?
