Car Ship Bills available ???

I was at a GTO function this week, and heard the rumors again that Jim Mattison of PHS has teamed up with a Vette person, and gotten there hands on 63 - 67 Vette car ship bills from St. Louis.We all know the story that build sheet records are gone, but not car ship bills.

The rumor keeps surfacing. The Vette person involved is someone we all know who is intimately involved with Corvette documentation.

John, if your out there, do car ship bills have vehicle option details and VIN's on them ?

what is your take on this rumor ? Any truth to it ?

I haven't heard anything about it. If the subject document is the "Car Shipper", it's essentially a duplicate of the window sticker.

An option is getting a copy of your shippers invoice from GM..
tells dealer where vette was sold, how equipped, options that were on it..etc...$50...available for vettes 1977 and up...

I just hope they will be shared and made available to owners if this is true. I also hope they will be made available at a reasonable cost and not horded. It still gets me that the trim tag book costs so much. If it wasn't for all the FREE input from owners it would have never been possible. Go ahead and jump on me, if you own a Corvette you should be able to afford the hobby, I'm on a budget.

I agree Kevin. However, don't hold your breath. Jim Mattison purchased the microfiche records from Pontiac for $1500. He now charges $30 to send you a build sheet for a Pontiac.

Most pontiac buyers, including me don't mind because it takes all the fraud out of buying a GTO. You can order a build sheet for any Pontiac with just the VIN #. You don't even have to own the car. In 15 minutes you have an authenic copy of the build sheet.

If this ever happened to Corvettes, a lot of big dealers will need in house attorneys.

I already know my car is real, just would be nice to have the shipper so I don't have to drop the tank. I'd like to leave my sticker where it belongs, on the tank.
