    C-3, 1968 327/300

    A friend bought a 1968 Corvette convertible and one of the block stampings is VIII4110. The block VIN matches the car's VIN but what does the VIII4110 mean? April 11th? He didn't list a suffix code as being on it.

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Is it possible that the '110' is actually 'HO'? If so, it's a 327/300 with auto transmission, built November 14th at the Flint plant.

    V= Flint
    1114 = November 14th
    HO is the engine suffix code.

      I called him back on it after boning up on '68s (I have a '70) and communicated the same thing, a V1114HO. The car is a 327 automatic but if I read that right that would be November 14 (or January 14?) and he claims his trim tag says D22. I asked him to re-check it for a 'B' (as he didn't get the engine code right).

      Thanks!

        Ok, what's the problem?

        VIII4HO is a Nov. 14 engine.

        D22 is a Nov. 22 body.

        If he had a B22, he would have a problem.

          Thank you, Mike! I am still in the 1970 Corvette numbers mode forgetting the the other years were full production years. So for '68 August would be A, September is B. Right?

            Right. 'D' is November for a '68
