    Block numbers...again

Okay, I hate to harp on the numbers thing but you guys are giving me a cheap education, nothing better then hearing from owners. I have heard of re-stamping a block but what about messing with the casting numbers? Is it possible to change these numbers on a block?

    Thanks...again.

    Re: Block numbers...again

Several examples of casting number/and or date changes have been reported by members on this forum. Examples seen are the use of wire feed welding for changing/adding numbers and use of JB weld type expoxy products for altering characters on block castings.

Yo Gary - Agree with Warren. Somewhere around 5 years ago, a member was doing engine cleanup and the portions of the casting date came off. I couldn't find his original post, but there are some follow-up discussions in the October 2000 archives under "Epoxy Casting Dates". As I recall he had just bought the car from a dealer.
