    1965: vent door

    Hi
My LH vent door is working correct (i've got to pull the knob to open it), but the other vent door (RH) works the opposed way. It looks like it is manufactured that way on the plant in Sept. '64. I can't see any damage of the body! Does anybody know?

If you have to push to open the RH vent

I think you may have the door mounted upside down. Flip it 180 degrees. The LH & RH doors are identical, but flip 180 degrees when mounted on the opposite side. Remember you had to push up to remove one side, and pull down to remove the other. Don't loose the (ancient ball point pen type) spring.

            Twan -

The vent GRILLES (the black plastic louvered part) are right and left-hand parts, but the vent DOOR (the valve with the seal around it that moves) is the same part left and right; the DOOR on the right side of your car is installed upside-down, as Geoffrey mentioned above.

Re: If you have to push to open the RH vent

Twan, I looked at the photo and started scratching my head till it hurt. On doors that I am familiar with, the arm on the door that holds the wire is physically different. Also the arm that hold the wire is on the left side of the door. Being on the left side, you would pull the knob under the dash to open the door and push it to close the door. Either someone repaired the door incorrectly or built their own????

Can you take the one from the left side and compare it to the right side and see if there is a difference.

Are you sure it's from or is a 65 Vette?

Uh ohh That an Air Cond 63-67 RH vent door

If you don't have AC, you will beed to change that vent door. However, I really don't think that is possible. You may have an ex AC car. It may have been gutted. Post a picture of the passengers side firewall.

PS If you have a well known illustrated catalog, look on page 50 in the upper LH corner. Or see this pdf file.
