greetings to everyone! I am a proud new member and would like to know if someone could post a picture or describe the buzzer tach harness and how it connects. Thank you

Re: buzzer tach
very early 63 340 and 360 hp vettes had the buzzer, harness and tack head for buzzer. as the months went byin late 62, and chevy came to ralize the buzzer wasn't loud enough for the driver to hear under load, they began to delete the buzzer, harness and the buzzer tack head. I've seen early 63s with all three components of the buzzer assembly, seen some with just the buzzer and some with tack head buzzer and some with tack head buzzer anbd the buzzer itself. havn't seen any early 63's with just the harness. my december 63 FI coupe had the buzzer only . i found the buzzer tack head and made a harness and got it working(probably only time the buzzer actually buzzed ). when functioning, i couldn't hear the durn thing under load but at the time my ears were 50 years old. unless its a very early 63 340 hp vette, i wouldn't go to the time and effort and expense to get the parts and get it working as it didn't work well when new. mike- Top

Re: buzzer tach
Thank you Mike and I agree with you completely. My car is an October car and when I wind it up I can't hear it either, even with stock exhaust. I can jump the buzzer out and it is not very loud, so to see if it works I wired it to a test light and it lit up at about 6500. What I need to know is where the buzzer gets the power from. I now have it feeding fron the fuse box hot side when ignition is on but don' know if it is correct, but you make good sense because it can't be heard anyway TYhanks again, Frank- Top

Re: buzzer tach
Frank,
Welcome and nice to have you.
You're going to like it here: great people who are always willing to help and who are very knowledgable. I can't imagine working on a Corvette without having this board to rely on. I've relied on this board heavily for much that I have done on my Corvette.

Connections ...
There is a cylindrical male electrical terminal on back of the tach side of the cluster (surrounded by a small cup shaped rubber root). It connects to a bayonet terminal on the buzzer with one wire. The other bayonet terminal on the buzzer connects with a wire to a hot lead on fuse box. I don’t think the buzzer leads are polarized.

Re: buzzer tach
Kurt, Many thanks for the warm welcome and kind words.I have had a love affair with the Corvette since my Dad had a 57 fuelie. Put new meaning to the words "Dad, can I borrow the car"
I also have been relying on this board for correct info. It was only when my wife whispered just loud enough for me to hear "why don't you sleep with you @*&^%$# car" that I knew I should join.
Thank You Frank- Top
