C3: How to order new Spare-keys?

Hello,
I would like to buy a spare key for the doors and also for the ignition lock for my CE (1982). On my original keys only one (different) letter is engraved in each case. Does this one Letter suffice for the order (e.g. at Ecklers)? Or what must I still indicate for the order?

The letter code will get you a blank key which then must be cut to provide the proper key "tooth" pattern for your locks. Yo may have a local locksmith that can cut the tooth pattern from your existing keys, if so, the correct letter code blank is all you will need.

Juergen, I hope you get better results from your local lockmith than I did! I took him a pair of key blanks and codes for my '67 and requested he cut them. He gave me that blank "deer in the headlights" stare. They may as well have been keys to a flying saucer! You should be OK with your '82 keys, though.

Pat made me a set of keys for my 82 C E. They had all the right codes, etc. Plus, his price is fair and he is a very pleasent to deal with.
