Hi guys. I have a question. I'm in the process of changing out the upper firewall in my 58. The original was busted up pretty bad and some of it was missing. I'm getting ready to drill all the required holes and was wondering if the holes for the windshield washer hoses were drilled in ALL the cars and then plugged for the ones that didn't have that option, or did they not even drill the holes at all unless the options called for it? I've looked in Nolan Adams book and at every other source I can find, but haven't found a thing that's helpfull in regards to these holes.
Thanx, Mick
My experience is that they allhad the holes that were filled with a grommet. The holes in the grommet were then either utilized or not, depending on whether or not it was washer-equipped.
Mike : Thanx for the info , as I was "unclear" by all the pictures , and AIMs , and books I could gather, as to if the hole for the "non-washer" cars was in the firewall just like the "washer" option cars. I have a new complete grommet set , but was uncertain if I should drill the hole for the washer hoses and install this grommet, or leave it go ?? It sounds like your saying they all had the hole with the grommet installed , even if they didn't have this option ??
