'66 ORIG SMALL BLOCK STARTER REBUILD

I plan on having my original, small block starter rebuilt soon. I just want to have it done locally, rather than by a "corvette guy". I'm going to put a new solenoid on and reuse the original cap. The only wear I detect is that it seems to work hard when the engine is hot, which I understand is normal. Other than making sure the heat shield is re-installed, is there anything specific I should ask to be done during the rebuild that will help the starter perform when hot?.

Rob, It’s been a long time since I rebuilt a starter, It’s one of the thing I have to do on my 66, but if you are using your original solenoid cap, I believe you can rotate the copper stud 180 degrees so it will have a fresh new contact area for the solenoid. This will help during hot starts.

Thanks...I think I remember doing that on my '67 BB starter now that you mention it.
