Guys,
I have been looking on e-bay for an original 67 distributor cap, the one with "Patent Pending" on it, and to no avail. I saw quite a few with "Patent Pending R" on them and they commanded some pretty high prices.
So, tonight I was looking for something else in my boxes of old and new parts in the garage (I never throw anything away), and I came across this distributor cap:
Sure enough "Patent Pending", looks like it is in good shape, clean as a whistle inside. I noticed inside that it has a 61 next to the Delco Remy logo.
So the question is, could this be my original distributor cap for a 67/327/300?
When did they go from "Patent Pending" to "Patent Pending R" in replacement distributor caps? What years were Patent Pending?
From the prices I've seen on ebay, I'm tempted to put this in a safe. Only kidding, you will find this cap on my refurbed distributor at the next judging meet.
