    '69 Seats: Identical/Interchangeable L/R?

My project '69 came to me with the seats having previously been removed by Bubba with a sawzall. I have a couple questions:

    1. It appears that the seats are identical left/right, as if I can choose which one for the driver's side and which for the passenger side. Is this correct?

    2. I found and resurrected (8) bolt holes total, 4 for each side of the car. The remains of the seat tracks show one bolt hole in the front of each seat track, but the rear bracket one each seat track is perpendicular to the track and has a bolt hole on either side -- what gives?

Thanks in advance for all assistance.

The seats are intchangeable. Not sure what you mean about the rear bracket, but as I recall there should be a hole on either side of the track. Use the outside hole.

If you have shoulder belts you may want to look more carefully. On my 70 Vette the hole for the shoulder belt is on the outside and if you reverse seats the hole appear on the wrong side. I imagine you could switch seat backs but that may open a whole new can of worms.

69 seats don't have spot for the shoulder belts. The headrests are seperate and adjustable because they were actually and option at the first of the model year. I believe the 70 seats are like my 72, and the headrest is part of the seat.

1969 does have shoulder harness clips

All coupes are supposed to have the clips. In addition, some converts were ordered with the shoulder belts (standard on coupes) and may have the clips - but my original interior unrestored convert with shoulder belts lacks the clips - go figure!

            Hope this helps,
            Mark
