Check out how sophisticated the art of scamming has become. You can't even cut and paste the item number to report the fraud. I had to report this criminal by entering the item number one digit at a time. Hopefully this item will be removed by ebay soon. It makes me wonder why ebay can't do a better job of policing the vehicles for sale.

I dont think Ebay cares, We had our credit card info stolen some how from Paypal(according to Ebay), internal or what we never found out. But Ebay did say the info came from PayPal. They told my wife they had hundreds of cases of fraud every day, when we finally got to talk to someone. This happened when we returned from a trip and noticed that we had 8 high tech electronic pieces of equipment for sale at 2250.00 each on "buy it now" and we had nothing listed. One had already sold. We emailed the buyer that it was fraud and not to send any money as the equipment listed on our account was not ours and that ebay would be contacting them. Then we contacted ebay. We then found out that several items had been charged to our paypal acct. also. Ebay cleared it all up but we never heard what actually happened. My wife had to change all our passwords and acct. info. etc. We closed the paypal acct. If its is Paypal only, I Email the seller and tell them something other than paypal or nothing. DaleComment

The only way this can happen is if you give out your userID and password. The same can happen just as easily with your bank account or credit card info, so don't automatically blame paypal. There's lots of discussion about these'phish' emails in the archives.Comment

Actually, the spelling thing was how I caught my first "phisher." I received a very sophisticated looking request from AOL requesting I update my password or I would have a problem, way back in the early days of phishing. I knew they wouldn't ask that way, but the layout of the screens sure looked legit. What tipped me off were the misspelled words: "your" instead of "you're" and a couple other ones.
I've noticed that the kids nowadays are geniuses at computers, but still can't spell their way out of a paper bag without Spellcheck (and they still dont know the difference between "there" and "their"). They can't make change without a calculator, either.
Sure enough, fake phish. Now I get 3 phisers a day!Comment
