Blackout overspray on the 63 hood catch mechanism?

Should there be any trace of blackout overspray on the hood catch mechanisms on a late 63? I've seen some with and some without (pic below) I couldn't find any reference in the JG and don't recall any previous discussion on the topic.

Mine were off the car when I bought it and I painted the engine compartment years ago without any thought about looking for evidence of the catches being installed during the blackout process.

    thanks,
    tc

i'd dust them with a light coat of paint where they attach to the cowl(use chevy engine orange--i'm sure carlton will love it). mike

How late? My mid July car is obvious that they were installed after the blackout and I'm confident of the originality of this area of the car.

The TIM&JG says they were installed after blackout on '63's.

Under the "If anyone is interested" category.
Have you ever had to open a hood that had a loose cable or the latches would not release.
In ythe above picture, that fitting on the end of the release cable that pulls the lever is not intended to secure the ends of the cable, the screw may loosen qnd slide.
The 3/4" surplus wire past that brass fitting on original cars cables have a 90 degree bend to the rear of the car. It is that bend that secures the fitting, not the setscrew (With the bolthead).
