1955 parking brake

Does anyone know how to get the cable out of the parking brake handle on a 1955? I have loosened the nut on the conduit ( firewall side) and can see where the cable enters the shaft, but all my efforts to get the cable out have not worked. Thanks, Mike L

Loosen the cable somewhat on the brake end. Then from under the dash, you can pull the cable back to release it from the groove it lays in. look for a ball on the end.
