    C2 Heater Box Paint

Hi guys. My project for today is to clean up the heater box on my 65 (Smith body). The heater box has been painted black, and the JG indicates that it should be natural fiberglass. Heater box is original per date stamp under box. As I'm cleaning off the black paint with lacquer thinner, I am exposing some red paint overspray. I realize it could be from a subsequent repaint. However, it looks consistent with what I'm seeing as I clean the firewall, which is original. Could this be another one of those Smith body anomolies? Anyone know if the heater box was installed prior to paint on Smith body cars? Anyone else seen this?

    Thanks!

    Don -

The heater inner and outer boxes were installed at St. Louis on all cars, and should show no signs of either blackout or body color paint.

      Thanks!

Thanks John! I'll continue to strip the paint off the box.
