    69 door paint

i'm restoring a 69 convertible, gold with black interior. i'm not sure of how to paint the inner doors. the 68-69 manual says the inner top front was painted semi-gloss black. mine looks like it was painted black with the weather strip on it, as it's gold under it. also the back inner part of the door is black, it looks like it was painted black with the brass alignment wedges installed as they also have gold paint underneath. could someone tell me what is installed when the black paint was applied and should the back of the door also be black? also, did they mask the edge between the gold and black? i'm sure this is covered in the archives, but i can't find it.
    thanks,
    mac

I am not sure about the weather stip being on there or not. But, I have looked at several doors and I have seen a lot of variability as to how much of the front of the door was painted. In general, it looked like the weather stip may have been on. Then it looks like they spray the exposed area vertically without regard to the area that would be under the door panel. I have seen some with just the front of the door panel area painted black and then I have seen half the door painted black on the inside. I don't recall seeing any definite line of demarcation on the underside of the door. It was not seen so I don't think they cared. I am interested in what others have to say about this also. Terry

thanks Terry, another thing, was the door installed when painted black? would hinges have black overspray?

It is too bad that there are not photos of all this stuff put somewhere.

There are enough original cars, digital makes it easy to record, lots could donate and it would make a good and easy way to restore closer to original. I know on the 70 Registry they do have a certain amount of photos so someone did have this in mind.
