    Terry-----

I anticipated this problem a long time ago and "stocked up". Of course, if one factors in the cost of all the parts that I bought at great prices but will never use, then the EFFECTIVE AND TRUE cost of the parts that I bought at great prices and WILL use is ABSOLUTELY ENORMOUS.

I'm actually feeling the burn as we speak, Terry- Finding the remaining items for my '59 has been becoming a little painful on the budget side. The parts are definitely there, it's just that the money always isn't 8^]

      I will get there though.

Nice to know there are others out there.

Been 15 years on my car....hope to get it done this coming summer. There should be an NCRS award for the longest restoration/preservation.

        Take care, Terry

When I get like this, I need a break from my little obsession. I have some parts I want to sell one of these days but I look at them and think to myself, "what if I sell something that I need someday. It will probably cost me a fortune to buy them back." I hope to finish my car this summer and take some time to enjoy it. Wish me luck, Terry

I started out with the best of intentions but ended up with a nice, if incorrect, driver. I am fussy about the quality of parts but have given up on their originality. It's just too darn expensive for my budget. Nevertheless I enjoy my 1967 very much and perhaps that is what ultimately counts for some owners.

Paul, I know you've heard this a million times before but it bears repeating: Your '67 looks fantastic! G.

Real nice car. You are totally right about the personal taste thing. Kinda have to follow your own bliss. Terry

Thanks George. The pics were taken at the paintshop last May. Its debut after three months of work last winter.

My last Corvette (a 1979 L-82) I basically re-did from scratch and it took a number of years and too many $s. It was a fun car but I did not wish to repeat that process. I bought the 1967 in 2003 after a several year search for a very intact C2 at a reasonable price. That's probably a contradiction in terms but this one popped up on another Forum. And it was in my price range, very solid mechanically and body-wise, and only needed cosmetic attention. I suspect it wasn't snapped up quickly owing to the 327 and Powerglide. After three driving seasons I have no regrets. In fact I rather like the automatic transmission although it dearly needs another gear. I've toyed with the idea of a TH350 but have never gone beyond the thinking stage.

In any case I have tweaked the car to the point where I like the look. It's now in secure commercial winter storage until April.

                    Buying something you already have

is almost as bad. I have looked at a few items that I had forgotten I had stored away. Luckily, I found them and saved myself several hundred dollars for that almost mistake.

To join the rest, it is a great looking car. This darn originality thing really makes it rough on those decisions to make it how you wnat, doesn't it? Yet, it does pay off in enjoyment.

It is also a shame they didn't leave a bit more room in the transmission tunnel and have the cross member a bit further back and removable, so that a 700R4 would live there and make you even happier.

But in the days of $.25 ethyl, who would have predicted someone wanted one or two overdrive gears added to their transmission?
