    I HATE UPS

They are the most disorganized, overpriced, and incompetent delivery service available to the American public. Even the USPS is appreciably better in every category: customer service, speed, price, and safe package handling.

Ever try to call the local UPS office? You can't! They have a secret unlisted telephone number! If you call the national UPS 800 number in the phone book you get a damned machine! I don't mean a recorder or voice mail or even a call directory system... I mean a damn machine that limits the topics it will talk about! The trick is to keep pressing the "0" key in a blind rage until you get transferred to a human being. Then a real person will tell you the same BS that the machine has been saying.

If any of you are on the UPS payroll, I feel sorry for you. Your company is about to do a GM. I sure hope I can speed it along the way. I've been using FedEx for the last 6 months with no problems, but I haven't gotten all my customers to quit using UPS....yet.

Although they don't seem to advertise it, FEDEX ground service is less expensive, and quicker, not to mention easier to use than UPS. You can go on the FEDEX website and check rates on any package and find FEDEX better in every way...no, I don't work for FEDEX...

that explains a lot. I know around here, Sprint is on strike and UPS won't cross the line. However, FedEx and DHL will. Or they did until one of the drivers ran over a picketer and things went downhill fast.

I'll add to Jerry's comment that FedEx isn't just cheaper, it is a LOT cheaper. Frequently packages are half the price of UPS.

Jerry, I agree. FedEx is much better, and now, at least for me, it's very convenient. I don't know if FedEx owns Kinko's or it's the other way around, but we have a Kinko's where I work. It's very easy to use.

DHL? No experience yet. Don't know if they have local drop off points, or if you have to call for a pick-up. Chuck

I have to agree that UPS is by far my last choice due their prices...especialy for Canadians. In fact they are so bad that I will not order from anyone that will only use them. Corvette Central has some "deal" with UPS for Canadian customers that is supposed to make it better for us and to be honest all it means is an over priced head ache to get my parts here. I will not be able to use Corvette Central because they will only us UPS for shipments to Canada. I believe Dr. Rebuild also has this same policy and it's too bad because I really would like to get the bulk of my restoration parts from them but I will not ever use UPS again!

I will only use Fed Ex ground or the US postal services. UPS is IMPOSIBILE to deal with.

Re: UPS is teamsters and FEDEX is

My bad experience with UPS is with an order from Dr.Rebuild. I had the package redirected from my home to my business and wasn't told of any redirect fee. Later, Dr.Rebuild was given a bill for $10.00 for that redirect.

I agree with all the above comments. I will not use any vendor that uses UPS either for deliveries to me in Canada.

My experiences with Fedex has only been positive. Great tracking and no cost redirects.

                    Just my .02 cents

Re: UPS is teamsters and FEDEX is

Funny story ----- Within the last year I ordered several pcs of fiberglass for my 57 from Corvette Image. When the box arrived my recieving people signed for it and told me that the parts I was waiting for had arrived. Several weeks passed before I had the opportunity to open and much to my surprise found that I had rec'd someone's remanufactured Lycoming aircraft engine block in the Corvette Image box. Corvette Image asured me that they HAD NOT shipped a Lycoming engine block by mistake and within a few days replaced the goods which arrived broken into several pieces although well packed by the shipper. Only after many phone calls and my sincere threat to list this engine on Ebay within 48 hrs did they respond by having it picked up within several days. Anyone missing a light twin engine?

                        FedEx bought Kinko's

I believe their motivation was to use the existing Kinko's outlets to provide 24-7 FedEx counter service.

FedEx Ground isn't perfect, but they are so superior to UPS that I will never go back. Example: FedEx Ground shipping to CA from AL takes 3 - 4 days. UPS takes 7 - 9. The 30% cost savings are just gravy to me. I like knowing that my package will get there intact and on time.

I haven't had any damage claims against FedEx Ground so far. You don't want to hear about the broken Corvette parts that have arrived by UPS. It would break your heart. Well okay, here's one: an NOS '58 - '61 side fender trim molding sent from Texas was bent double.

I don't have any beef with UPS, but I'm not a shipper, just on the receiving end.

My driver's name is "Bill Mitchell"!

I have asked for US Mail for smaller parts to be shipped to Canada or Have them shipped to a hotel I am staying at while attending a Corvette event.
