I have a 79 L82 with an 8 track unit in it. The window sticker said it came with the AM-FM CB radio. I found the radio, but I need to know where and how the mic was mounted.

Re: CB Radio
John-----
First off, let me say that this is DEFINITELY NOT an area that I have any particular expertise in, but I'll offer what I've been able to find out on this subject.
The microphone was mounted at the factory behind the lower right instrument panel and was temporarily affixed with tape. The back of the microphone had a Velcro-TYPE "loop" fastner and a "hook" fastner was mounted on the shift console just above the shift quadrant letters/gear shift pattern. At delivery prep, the dealer was supposed to remove the microphone from it's temporary taped location and affix it to the fastner on the console. The "hook" and "loop" fastners, GM #415816 and 415817, are no longer available, but may be available in reproduction.
There MAY also have been an ALTERNATE microphone mounting location, but I'm not able to come up with the details on it. However, if so, you should be able to find the details of it in your owner's manual. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Picture
John, There is a picture on my page of an 81 microphone. It only shows part of it but it may give you a starting point. I will see if I can find more info. http://l81registry.com/factoryplate.htm Eric #3,182
