    67 rear deck lid

The paint/primer coverage on the rear deck lid hinge and spring assembly is not complete which I believe is proper. What is the metal finish? Is it plain, phosphatised or something else? Also, I just removed the original rear compartment carpet. The top coat paint that was under the carpet on the top of the right inner fender is shiney, not dull. I thought the lacquer had to be sanded and buffed to be shiney. Any ideas?

    Randy,

The original color coat was shinny, even though it wasn't polished/buffed. This was a result of the basic paint formula which, when baked for the final time in the reflow oven, produced the shine that you see. There was very little actual buffing or polishing done to the paint at the factory and that was limited to the top horizontal surfaces. (hood, deck and fender tops)

I don't remember which plating was on the hinge and related parts but most often, there was at least a solid mist coat that covered most of there items.
