63 Rear Spring Mounting Plate Bolts

The 4 bolts that hold the spring mounting plate to the differential, should they be black phosphate or zinc/cad?

I have several spares, besides the 4 I took off my 63. The ones on the car were zinc/cad.

I have several "spares" of the zinc/cad type, but I also have 2 black phosphate plated bolts. All have WB headmarks. I think zinc/cad is correct. Any thoughts? TIA. Chuck

    Chuck-----

The bolts were the same throughout the 1963-1974 period and were of GM #3833486. I have several NOS examples of these bolts and all are phospate-finished. The original bolts on my 1969 were phosphate-finished, too. It's possible that the finish changed over the years either because the original specs made the finish optional or because the spec for the 3833486 bolt was revised.

The original bolts on my car had the "WB" headmark. Later SERVICE bolts have other headmarks.
