    Clutch/Brake pedal assembly

Is the same assembly used in all midyear cars or does each year have something different? More to the point will a 67 unit fit in a 64?

    Chuck,

I know the clutch pedal is different for 67 as it lacked the "adjustable throw" feature that 63-66 had. Also, I'm not sure if the upper bracket mounting for the column was the same as 63-66.

OK 67 is out, so 63-66 units are interchangeable?

Unless I'm forgetting something, 63-66 are all basically the same. I know that the pedals are the same part number 63 through 66 and I believe the upper bracket assy is the same also.

Michael - same but different question .. can the adjustable throw parts from my 64 unit be transferred to a 67 unit? I know of a refurbished 67 unit coming up for sale and I am trying to decide if I should get it and use it or maybe save it for the future.

I believe the entire clutch pedal from a 63-66, including the "adjustable feature", can be installed in a 67 upper bracket. I suppose it's even possible to install the part of the 63-66 pedal that has the adjustment feature, on a 67 pedal but I've never tried. It would require a few new holes in the 67 pedal to attach the 63-66 adjustable lever and also it would probably be necessary to remove the existing 67 only welded in place bracket. I would probably continue searching for a proper 63-66 assembly and keep the 67 unit for trade or future use.

I think I'll just let a 67 owner in need have it. I have TOO MANY other parts I should buy first.

              THANKS for the information.

                Chuck---

I wouldn't dream of trying to "update" or "modify" any of the clutch-related actuating mechanism. As problematic as this can be for a variety of reasons, the greatest effort should be devoted to making sure that every component of what you have installed is AS-DESIGNED or AS APPROVED in SERVICE by GM for your particular model year.

Thanks Joe. I was just talking to the one selling the 67 unit and he explained the numerous differences too. I'll just work with what I have.
