This past weekend I watched this show and the hosts fielded a question from a 1965 Corvette owner. He stated the brakes would "lock up while driving" and he would have to pull off, park, and wait up to 30+ minutes before he could proceed. The hosts suggested either water in the brake fluid that was boiling and expanding or leaking calipers that were corroded and sticking. I was thinking a booster problem but none was mentioned. Any thoughts?

I would bet that the return hole in the master cylinder is partially plugged and not allowing the fluid to return to the master cylinder. After a short period of time the fluid weeps back into the cylinder and the brakes work fine until the pressure builds again.

I had a similiar experience a longtime ago... turns out there were check valves in the master cylinder orifices which was set up for drum brakes. After driving the brakes heated up... the fluid had no where to go and they eventually locked up.... took a long time to resolve that one.- Top

Another cause that I have seen is the pedal to M/C rod out of adjustment. Had owner that decided he could raise the brake pedal by lengthening the rod. He was trying to compensate for what eventually was a bad set of calipers.Dick Whittington- Top
