1970 Corvette 454 engine on eBay

Interesting item. Block cast was April and the build date is July 7. Did blocks sit around that long before being built/installed? Corvette that it went into was built circa July 22 or 23.

Bi blocks, in particular, seem to sometimes show fairly long time intervals between casting of major components and engine assembly. I don't know why this was so, especially since, in those days, the Tonawanda foundry and engine plant were right next door to each other.
