    Seat Belts; paint color for jack and tire tool

    A couple of questions for you folks knowledgeable about '64's.......

    1) Who makes a good quality reproduction of the seat belts? My '64 roadster didn't have any and driving around without them now makes me real nervous. Also, since I have the white vinyl seats, I assume the fabric on the belts will be white also...... correct?

    Any recommendation on a supplier would be appreciated.....

    2) I have the original jack and tire tool..... Since they both have a number of rust spots, I would like to repaint them with the original color. However, the paint (a shade of black....) does not appear to be a standard gloss black automotive paint.

    Does anyone know what the correct shade of black should be and where it be purchased in a spray can.....?

      From the '63-64 Judging Guide:

      "The belt webbing color is coordinated with the carpet color except white interior cars which have white webbing."

      Paragon is one source for reproduction seat belts. They won't be 'cheap' nor will they get you full credit on the judging field. Belts can NOT be constructed today as they were back then due to Federal safety standards and the belt fabric material has 'improved' over time meaning what's available today EXCEEDS the tensile strength specs originally adhered to with a thinner fabric profile.

                  Try Pipers Auto www.pipersauto.com. Thay have a good selection of NOS belts.

                      I also had Charlie at Seatbelt Sity work on my '64 seat belts, he did a beautiful job. I beleive he has a variety of used original seat belt sets.
