How to fix a spinning rar view mirror.

My 72 drivers outside rear view mirror does not stay in play. Falls down, the ball does not hold. Can I fix it or do I need to buy a repro. This is original and in good shap. My car is a driver and I like original stuff.

You can fix it. This issue has been discussed both very recently and in the past. There should be information in the archives. Terry McMannmon also wrote an article for the Restorer several years ago (before he was even the Restorer Editor) on this exact subject which covered the procedure quite well.

try massaging some valve lapping compund on the ball joint. temporary fix till you get to the permanent fix. mike

Take a look at this post for a C3 loose mirror.

Once you get the mirror off it is the same fix as a C2 mirror.
