When checking out a 67 with a 300hp motor and A/C, I noticed a HP engine code According to the books the HP is for 350hp+A/C. Note, the block pad looks legit with the appropriate vin stamp, casting date, and casting number. Is this a factory anomaly or just a mutant? I suppose anything is possible...

Re: 1967 HP engine code.....
Jim-----
It's possible that it's a factory-incorrect stamping. However, are you sure that the engine is not an L-79? Some peripheral items could have been changed along the way such that it's currently "disguised". What is the tach redline in the car?In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1967 HP engine code.....
Jerry----
Likely, there were more base engines manufactured with C-60 than any others. The codes were the same as the non-AC codes for the particular transmission and K-19/non K-19 application.
I don't know why the L-79 had a special code for those with C-60. There must have been some engine plant-installed component of the engine that was specific to C-60 applications, but only for L-79 and not the base engine. I don't know what it was, though. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: was it a different exhaust manifold?
Mark----
Exhaust manifolds were the same for all 67 small blocks. There was a difference, of course, between AIR and non-AIR engines with respect to exhaust manifolds and other engine plant-installed components (and, different suffix codes for these). There was no other difference for 67 small blocks, though. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
