Consumers Reports cites the new Corvette as one of the least reliable but lists a 2005 Monte Carlo as one of the most reliable. Overall, on all the cars listed, American and European made cars did not fare well at all. Go figure!!

Re: Least Reliable Sportscar per Consumers Reports
Who are you going to believe - a bunch of "Toaster Testers" that do NOT take advertising or a bunch of "*****S" that will say anything for a few $$$ ??? BTW - Consumer Reports had the largest response to their annual survey in history. The results are based upon comments submitted by OWNERS !- Top

Re: Least Reliable Sportscar per Consumers Reports
Some people just don't deserve to own a Corvette! As for CR,there's one factor those toaster testers can never quantify and that's "passion". They should stick to testing Japanese transportation appliances and leave the exciting stuff to the car magazines.- Top

Re: Least Reliable Sportscar per Consumers Reports
I realize that I'm native but I would hope the majority of subscribers that take the time to complete the comprehensive questionaire are answering for the car(s) that they own or at least have first hand knowledge.
In my 35+ years of subscribing to CR - I've disagreed with numerous (not majority) of their conclusions. However, when it comes to reliability as compared to other vehicles I find their ratings hard to dispute.
We have owned two camaros ('71 & '80 Z28) and now own two Toyotas ('86 pickup & '92 4-runner). I can tell you that the Toyotas are far superior to the Camaros in their RELIABILITY. As for which ones are/were more fun to drive (Passion?) - hands down, the Camaros. As the Topic states - "Least Reliable Sportcar". Let's not loose sight of the Topic.- Top

AMEN one this one.
I and my family having been subscribing to this rag since 1953 and I can tell you they are definitly hostile to American cars/products.
The '55 Chevrolet Power Pack was given a "C" not recommended rating because it's 0-60 time was "too fast".
If you look at the reliability ratings on Domestic VS foreign ratings on concerns per 1000, the US cars are in the shortfall. But, if you look at the acutal DIFFERENCE, statistically, there is almost nothing. But, they don't expound on that. Just that the exports are "better". Statistically insignificant but they make a big deal out of it.- Top

Re: Least Reliable Sportscar per Consumers Reports
Its just like wine. Italian wine is better here than over in Italy becasue here it is imported wine while over there it is a domestic wine. Everyone knows that imported wines tastes better than domestic wines.- Top

Re: Least Reliable Sportscar per Consumers Reports
The Consumers Report rating seems to conflict with recent JD Power "3 year reliability" ratings that showed GM leading in the largest number of the 19 categories and Ford doing well also. Some of the European makes had nearly TWICE as many problems over three years than domestics like Lincoln, Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet. JD Power surveys some 50,000 owners for its research; what does CR do...survey only its subscribers? If so, the significance of their ratings would be weak at best.
