    74 corvette sequencing module

I am in the process of trying to reassemble my car and need to know if anyone knows how to bypass the sequencing module so I can get it started. The module # is 9736651.

    Thanks, Daniel Holden

Just disconnect it from the wiring connections. The circuit functions normally with it disconnected at one end or the other. It's been so many years since I did it I don't remember which end but you only have two to choose from. As an alternative you can pus the button in the center of the orange colored relay in the engine compartment. that will give you one "free" start unencumbered by the seatbelt interlock system.

To use the orange "one free start" button, you need to have the ignition switch on before you push the button. This allows the solenoid to energize.

You may be able to bypass the system by unplugging the electrical connections under each seat that go to the seat load sensors. You may be able to access them from the rear of the seat with the seats adjusted full forward.

The car should also start by not putting any weight in the drivers seat(standing outside the car and putting your foot on the gas pedal-with the car in park or neutral and the park brake firmly set.) I believe you can then get in the car and fasten your seat belt. If you don't fasten your seat belt, the buzzer will sound when you put the car in a forward gear.

There was a TSB printed in The Restorer with details of how to disconnect the system. I'm not near my magazines to give you a reference, but check the on-line index.

          Daniel,

I saw your post and finally got around to checking how the sequencing module is bypassed on my '74. What I found is that two of the four wires that connect into the module plate mounted to the firewall were disconnected. The green/black wire and the purple wire were connected in line with each other. A question that raises for me is, I wonder if this bypassed wiring has anything to do with the fact that my seatbelt light and buzzer are inopperative? Although it appears that all seatbelt connections have been made...I suppose I have some investigative tracing to do. Hope this helps.

You can unplug the connectors under the seat, and the car will start. The buzzer/light can be turned off, if you pull up on the e-brake handle one notch, but then, you have the brake light shinning!

This only works on 4 speed car I think unless 74's are different.

Nope, that's how mine works!(74 4spd) Sometimes, while driving(with Mama in the pass. seat), the buzzer & light go haywire, and I just pull the e-brake up a bit, and stops all that nonsense. I assume the autos work the same, but I have been wrong in the past!(or so they say):)
