Try a marine supply store. It is used as a primer for painting outdrives. I bought some locally.

Yep, the local marine supply store like Marine West etc. should have it, Quanta only carries "synthetic" zinc chromate primer now.

              Tony,

Try an aircraft supply store. Sporty's Pilot Shop used to carry it.. it's the real thing and matches the original used on the birdcage frame.

WARNING: POSSIBLE LINK BETWEEN CHROMATE PIGMENTS AND LUNG CANCER

Several independent technical studies have suggested that excessive inhalation of zinc chromate dust may cause lung cancer. On the basis of these findings, the manufacturers have requested that the sale of zinc chromate primer and zinc chromate primer aerosol be restricted to commercial or professional shop use.

Mar-Hyde has a good green chromate primer. Had problems with Eastwoods. I make up my own aluminum arrows for bowhunting and like dull colors for the feather section of the arrows. Preparing the arrows the same way, Eastwoods paint chips off, lost feathers, Mar Hyde takes a beating and stays on. Compatible with the strong glue used to attach feathers.

Dupont has a green etching primer compatible with their paints. Used this along with Imron for frames and parts. Holds up quite good.

You find that on almost all paint these days. My lacquer and primer were covered with those warnings. The two-part primer was covered with nothing but warnings. I had to call the company to get mixing instructions.
