BJ Auction Scottsdale List – No VINS

I noticed the 300+ Corvettes listed for the Scottsdale auction on the Barrett Jackson web site have no VINS listed. Apparently it will be more difficult to detect the forgeries. Since they are just middle men in the buyer-seller transaction, and absolve themselves of any knowledge of forgeries, this should make it even easier way to duck any responsibility.

Maybe they will add then to the web site auction information as time gets closer, maybe not. Wonder why they are all missing. Got any guesses?

With the exception of 53 #003, which is listed for sale.

I go to the BJ auction in Scottsdale every year. It is not the place to buy a "correct" vehicle of any kind. There is little if any opportunity for a thorough inspection. All the cars are locked up and parked in the lawn and the owners are usually not there. Many Corvettes there tout their NCRS credentials however I have seen very few that have supporting documentation (usually laying on the seat of a locked car).

                No Reserve

Are they not allowing a reserve on the cars now. I would never put my car in a auction without a reserve. you could have the nicest car there and if only 1 bidder your hosed.

                  Re: No Reserve

mike you just bid it up yourself you will get stuck with a auction fee but you do not have to pay yourself. it is like holding a morgage if they default you go to the sheriff sale and out bid everyone. you do not have to pay yourself.

---------Yes, Clem, but that auction fee can be a whopper!!!!! Sure takes the fun out of it. Did B/J with a car last year and must have lost 10 pounds during the 4 days. Very nerve racking!!!.........Bill S

                      You'll End up paying

Clem, I agree with that, but that could get pretty pricey you would be paying both the buyer and seller fees, not to mention the cost of getting the car to and from the auction.
