    T.I. Amplifier

Several months ago, there was discussion here about some starting issues using a new reproduction transistor ignition amplifier circuit board. I'm considering replacing my original board and wondered if anyone knew if this problem has been corrected. Thanks,

    Michael

    Michael,

There was discussion some time ago (over a year?) about TI electronics.
It was suggested to replace the existing electronics with an HEI module.
It has been done before with good results.

      Thanks Verle,

I thought I remembered something about that and also the part about using the HEI module. I believe it was Clem that mentioned it. I'll check with him. I was about to order a new module from TISpecialty and still may do that just for a spare. Thanks again.

        Re: T.I. Amplifier

Michael, Interesting thread. I have a 65 with TI, does the HEI module fit inside the original amplifier housing or is it installed separately?
        Any information is appreciated.
        Thanks

          Floyd,

I believe the HEI module fits inside the original TI housing but I've never tried it. I only remember someone here on this board saying that it works and I believe it was Clem Zahrobsky but I'm not sure.

            Floyd,

I have had one of the modules in my '66 SB for several years and many thousands of miles. It installs in your existing amp, nothing changes in the wiring, totally hidden. Can't be damaged by a remote starter switch or cranking engine with a plug wire removed. Mine appears to be bulletproof so far. Bill

              Bill,

Are you saying you have an HEI module in your Delco housing or a replacement/reproduction circuit board? If an HEI module, can it be installed without having to modify any of the internal wiring or the original wiring harmness? Interesting. Thanks

Michael, Sorry, I didn't read your post correctly! I have the replacement module sold by Dave F., not an HEI module. Bill

Ok, thanks Bill. I've heard only good things about David's parts and services. That's the way I'll go.

Thanks everyone. I guess that is the way I will go also.

you could install the HEI module in the orignal black box BUT the orignal wiring can not be used. any one that wants a drawing i can scan it to you. you can use the HEI module to replace the ford ignition part also.
