    68 coup rear window

I'm looking at a used rear window for my 68 coupe. I've found one but it has two (2) notches on top (I"m assuming for latches?) Is this the correct window for a 68?

    Re: 68 coup rear window

If the two notches at the top you refer to are in the stainless steel trim that surrounds the window, then "Yes" they are for the latches that hold the window in place as it is removable. You should also see wo small pegs on the bottom of the window one on each side a few inches from the edge. I have this type of rear window on my 68 coupe.

      Don,
I was about to post an additional comment to you quoting the NCRS Judging Manual that "all glass is dated with a letter for the month followed by another letter for the year (MY)" as stated on page 26 of the 3rd edition of the 1968-69 Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide (which I just recently purchased from NCRS). I had hoped that with this information you might be able to identify if in fact the window you are looking at is a 68. THEN I LOOKED AT MY 68 WINDOW, and found that it is coded M58 which does not agree in any way with what the Judging Guide states.
The guide does not even list a month corresponding to the letter 'M' and I should not have numbers, but instead should have another letter. Since I am the second owner of this car having purchased it from the original owner in 1972, either the Judging Guide is incorrect or I have a Hyundai rear window in my 68 Corvette. Go figure.

        Kurt -

"M58" sounds like the glass "style" code, not the date code; the date code will be two letters.

          Don't get old

          John Hinckley is correct.
My old eyes and feeble brain saw the M58 code but failed to see the very faintly legible code "LX" whihc is to the right of the LOF symbol when looking at the window from the tail end of the car. LX translates to March 1968 so I do not have a Hyundai rear window but a genuine 68 coupe window. I am glad to learn this having spent the last 10 years and many $$$ to restore this car to factory original condition.
Thank you John for your help in clearing up my confusion (senility?).
          Kurt

Kurt, is your window clear or tinted? Thanks, Terry

Tinted, all the windows on my coupe have a slight tint including the windshield. I assumed it was because the car has A/C.
The windshield was replaced 20 years ago because of a crack, the other glass is all original.

I was just curious. I have heard that air cars all came with tinted glass but I don't know if that is true or not. Terry
