AS long as we're talking about bad fitting parts

Anyone have any experience with replacing the rectangular clip that secures the seat latch shaft to the seat on a '67? Another poor fitting reproduction part, the ID of the clip is way too large to engage the groove in the shaft it is supposed to secure. Anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, my suggestion would be to be careful where you buy reproduction parts. Some vendors will sell anything that will fill the hole. Notice I said fill the hole and not fit the hole.
