Did I get the right battery for my 1962???

I ordered a reproduction tartop battery which arrived today, from restoration battery. The battery that arrived it model #558, which I believe is correct.

However, the caps are black with yellow print and the delco on the side is black. Shouldn't the caps be yellow and the delco print on the side be white for a 62?

From the 5th Addition Manual. !962 is "558". 1961 is "458".
558 has offset cell top covers which are molded yellow with "DELCO" in "Black".

I don't believe the sides were painted in production Tartops.

Everything checks out from the 5th edition TIM except for the vent caps. The ones on the battery I have are molded black plastic with 'DELCO' highlighted in yellow Vs the TIM's description of the caps being YELLOW molded plastic with 'DELCO' highlighted in BLACK.

I think the caps provided are for 63 and later. I'll give them a call to get the correct caps.

Jon,

If you have the wrong caps, just call Tom at Restoration Battery and he'll gladly replace them.

I have known and traded with Tom for the last 30 years and he's always taken care of any problem for me.

He's the best in the business and that's why he is the only one left standing. All the rest have gone out of business!
