C 2 _ Ballast resistor

Academic question: If the points have been replaced by a Petronix kit, is the resistor still necessary? If not does it hurt to leave it in the circuit?

With pertronix, you want the full 12V at the trigger unit, so the feed to the pertronix needs to be from the feed side of the ballast if you leave it in, that is, it is "disconnected" and serves no purpose other than cosmetic for originality....Craig

The Pertronix module wants a full 12 volts, but your COIL still needs the resistor-reduced current it had before; if you run a stock coil on a full 12 volts, it'll fry in fairly short order.

Good point (no pun intended ) John. My 67 did have a pertronix, but had an aftermarket coil then. A good reason to leave the resistor in and tap on the 12V side for the pertronix feed.... at the moment I have a TI mag trigger distributor with an MSD 6AL and MSD coil.....and red wires. Not much for originality.......but I have the right stuff if I get to judging. It really made a difference getting the 67 through our AZ smog check for license....Craig
