All,

I need a little help. This is on a 1966 Coupe. When I install the new KO rims, the cone shaped shield (that covers the Lug area) that goes behind the spinner is loose and rattles quite a bit (brushed finish). I find it hard to believe that this is how they should be. The kit came with no directions or additional parts like O-rings or gaskets. I'm sure someone else has had this problem as well.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

I read somewhere to use weatherstrip cement to glue the cones to the knockoff wheel. Try searching the archives. On mine I have thin foam rubber that I cut into curved strips, and glued to the inside of the cones. If you cut the strips in a curve they create a cone shape to fit nicely. Let's see what others have for solutions.

run a couple of beads of silicone around the in side and when it cures the beads will stop the rattle when installed on the car my 2 cents steve

I'm thinking the information I received with my repro wheels said to use a couple of beads of silicone. However, I used some 1/4" thick by 3/8" wide rubber strips I cut from a piece of material I found laying around the shop. I cemented them to the ridges on the wheel and when I install the cone it snugs up to the rubber and there is no rattle.
